drink it: mulled wine

This is the perfect fall drink. It's warm, it's got some spice, it's a bit zesty, and just a little kick.

Ingredients for 10:
2 bottles of red wine
1/2 c spiced rum
1 t ground clove
1 T ground cinnamon
1/2 c honey
1 1/2 t fresh ground ginger
juice of 2 lemons
zest of 1/2 a lemon (just use a potato peeler)

Add all liquid ingredients and zest to a pot. Over medium heat start to bring to a simmer. While this is heating up mix together clove, cinnamon and ginger. Add these to a coffee filter and tie with string and throw it in the pot too. Stir occasionally and simmer for 30 minutes. Ladle into mugs and garnish with a lemon slice and cinnamon stick.
